Educational Therapy
What exactly is educational therapy and who do you help?
Educational therapy combines therapeutic and educational methodologies to support students with learning differences. We help children and adolescents who struggle with dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalcula, executive function, and academic anxiety by strengthening their underlying cognitive skills.
How is this different from traditional tutoring?
While tutoring focuses on specific subject matter and curriculum, educational therapy targets the neuro-cognitive processing skills required for all learning. We focus on 'how' to learn rather than just 'what' to learn, building sustainable skills for lifelong success.
Session Logistics
How do sessions work and what should we expect?
The initial session is a group meeting between the educational therapist, student and supportive adults. This helps build a learning needs profile that the educational therapist uses to establish a baseline, set up learning goals and plan future sessions. These appointments are typically longer than 50 minutes and is diagnostic in nature. Please bring any psychology or school reports with you to this appointment. They can give us valuable information about your students individual learning needs.
Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are conducted in a supportive, low-stress environment. You can expect a mix of brain-training exercises, strategy building, and academic integration tailored to your child's specific neuroscience-informed profile.
Bookings & Cancellations
How do I manage my child's bookings?
Bookings can be made directly through our online portal. We recommend a consistent weekly schedule to maintain momentum. Learning is reinforced when materials can be revisited often. For severe learning needs, we recommend two sessions per week.
For cancellations, we require at least 24 hours' notice to allow other families on the waiting list to fill the slot.
Progress Tracking
How is progress tracked and communicated to us?
We track progress through regular formative assessments and session reflections. Parents receive monthly progress reports and can schedule termly check-in meetings to discuss strategy shifts and academic milestones achieved.
